Ana Vujovic vive e opera in Serbia. 

Usando misti media e tecnologia digitale, Ana Vujovic esplora l’esperienza post-analogica, l’interazione della società con il mondo digitale e il suo rapporto con le radici della nostra eredità culturale. 

Vujovic studia e esamina i settori marginali della società attraverso una combinazione di suoni pluridisciplinari e installazioni luminose. 

Nel suo lavoro più recente, attraverso oggetti multimediali, Ana investiga il nostro incontro e comprensione dell’ipocrisia sociale e di valori deformati che al contrario del progresso tecnologico stanno riportando la nostra civiltà un passo indietro.

Nel periodo della residenza Artegiro nel contesto del COCOAA 2017, Ana è stata molto colpita dalla storia di emigrazione conzanese e monferrina dell’800.

L’artista ha affermato di voler soffermarsi sul periodo di separazione che l’emigrazione provocava nelle famiglie, lasciando dietro di sé nuclei familiari spezzati.

L’idea che affascina Ana è di far confluire queste storie con le modalità di espressione manuale e artigianale delle donne della regione sopratutto. Il progetto infatti per Ana potrebbe intitolarsi ” Lasciare spazio agli altri”, che era spesso uno dei motivi addotti dagli emigrati per la loro scelta nel partire e lasciare la propria terra.

L’inevitabile fattore tempo sarà il punto focale del lavoro di Ana, il tempo che ha avuto un impatto dolorosa su chi restava, disegnando una dimensione parallela con la creazione di un’opera che si deteriori con il tempo, che risponda al tempo.

Ana Vujovic lives and works in Belgrade, Serbia.

Employing a mix of multimedia and digital, Ana Vujovic’s work explores the post-analogue experience – society’s interactions with the digital world and its relationship to our roots of traditional heritage. 

Vujovic scrutinizes and examines marginalized part of the society through combination of multidisciplinary sound and light installations, and in her most recent works through multimedia objects, how we encounter and understand the hypocrisy of society and deformed values that, contrary to the advancement of technology, are taking civilization a step back.

For her residency project, Ana was struck by the Monferrato migratory history and particularly by the Conzano chapter of it.

In the artist words she would like to :

“focus on one segment of Conzanes lives during the period of emigration that separated families. The idea is to merge stories of the sugarcane cutters, who were the Conzano men who needed to leave their families for a better future and any kind of handmade traditional piece of cloth or home decor that women usually do. The project might have title “To leave room for the others” by the statement that was given by many as reason for leaving their native land.

The artwork Ana would like to begin producing in this period would include what Ana calls “the unavoidable fact of “time” as influence on separated families causing the wounds and pain and make a parallel to the organic nature of material used for artworks and what will happen if exposed to time and different weather condition.”
